PhD candidate

Eugenio is originally from Torino, Italy, where I completed my bachelor’s degree in agriculture. I then moved to Wageningen University for a master’s in plant sciences, where I developed a strong interest in molecular biology and especially the in the interactions between plants and microbes.
I dedicated both my MSc thesis and research practice to exploring the role of susceptibility genes in plant immunity. After graduating, I spent some time in Switzerland working at FiBL, a research institute dedicated to organic agriculture, where I worked on several field trials focusing on minor crops, resistance breeding, and beneficial microbes. I now started my PhD within the MiSeed project, where I’m exploring the seed microbiome and its influence on plant drought tolerance. Outside of research, I enjoy rock climbing and hiking.
